UAS Safety Practice Exam

The primary purpose of a Ground Data Terminal in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) is to process and store data. This unit serves as a crucial interface between the UAS and the ground control station, where it collects, processes, and manages data transmitted from the aircraft.

In practical terms, this means that the Ground Data Terminal is responsible for receiving telemetry, sensor data, and other relevant information during flight operations. It processes this data to ensure it is usable for operational purposes, such as monitoring the aircraft's performance and determining its location. Additionally, the Ground Data Terminal stores historical flight data, which can be used for flight analysis, mission planning, and regulatory compliance after the flight has concluded.

The other choices, while related to UAS operations, do not encompass the primary role of the Ground Data Terminal. Launching and recovering the aircraft typically involves other systems and mechanics, ensuring flight safety goes beyond mere data management, and providing real-time video feedback is specifically related to the transmission of video feeds, which is a distinct function from data processing and storage.
